About the event
Bea’s childhood home had some rocky foundations. Now, so does she. Although created almost ten years apart, she feels connected to her childhood home through her parents’ shoddy craftsmanship. As her parents prepare to sell the home and amid recovering from a depression “whoopsie”, Bea moved back in to help and pack up. Considering some extensive hoarding, 35 years of memories and walls that you would want to shut up if they could speak; packing the house up was no easy task. Bea takes you through the journey of having to unbox – and confront – your own bizarre childhood. Unpack it all in a hilarious comedy show about an upbringing bringing you down. Bea is a stand-up comedian, screenwriter and producer. Her debut feature film, Suburban Wildlife won second runner up audience award at the 2019 Sydney Film Festival and was long-listed for an AACTA Award. As a comedian she has opened for legendary acts such as Wil Anderson and Geraldine Hickey. In 2022 she was a recipient of the Adelaide Fringe Artist Grant and was a contributing writer for the ABC show Question Everything. Her voice has been described as manic, unique and sharp. Darkly funny and disarmingly beautiful (her secret is she’s mixed race, which is very trendy right now), Bea is a powerhouse and absolutely one to watch! 'A talented comedian... a good bet.' Sydney Morning Herald 'A local stand up sensation.' Time Out Sydney 'With a penchant for making any topic charming-as-f%*k, Bea makes being sad and irreverent look easy, and most of all, enjoyable.'
